My professional values/approaches:

  • The central social work values of respect, social justice and professional integrity are close to my heart. Furthermore, as a bi-racial queer person, I am particularly passionate about promoting values of diversity, inclusion, equity, empathy and self-determination.

  • My practice is governed by an evidence-based and trauma-informed approach. Additionally, an intersectional lens is paramount to my work. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community can often experience multiple layers of discrimination due to their intersectional identities.

  • Neuro-affirming practice. Moreover, my practice is governed through the social model of disability.

  • As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I know that we can often have similar lived experiences of both hardships and resilience. At the same time, I am committed to person-centred practice to ensure clients are not homogenised (i.e., stereotyped), and receive individualised help to promote their mental wellbeing.

  • Passionate about creating spaces/opportunities which highlight and celebrate queer joy, resilience and strengths.
